This collection, searchable online, contains Frank Thomson’s research
for his book on the Thoen Stone, as well as research
about the Black Hills for other books.. The Thoen
Stone was discovered in 1887 by Louis and Ivan Thoen.
Written on this slab of rock was the message that
seven men had come to the hills in 1833 hunting gold.
In 1834 they found gold, but all perished at the hands
of the Indians. Frank Thomson spent numerous years
researching the authenticity of the Thoen Stone. His
collection contains that research.
