FEDERAL DEPOSITORY LIBRARY PROGRAM
E.Y. Berry Library-Learning Center has been a federal
depository library since 1942. As a federal depository
library, Black Hills State University library provides
not only for the needs of the university community,
but also services the needs of the local community
which includes communities in western South Dakota,
eastern Wyoming and Montana.
The government documents collection is located on
the second floor of the library adjacent to the periodicals
office and the cataloging area. The collection consists
not only of print materials, but also materials on
microfiche and CD-ROM. As the government moves to
more electronic resources we are currently providing
links to documents via the Internet. (Visit GPO
Access Website for Online Govt. Documents).
As a selective depository, our library concentrates
on resources to meet the information needs of the
service area. This includes, but is not limited to,
materials related to business, education, forestry,
geology, mining and minerals, social issues, and tourism.
The documents are cataloged into the library system
and are treated in the same way as other types of
material. Some documents are placed in the Reference
Collection and do not leave the library. Most of the
paper documents are available for checkout to qualified
users. Microfiche documents may be read on a machine
or may be printed via a microprint reader printer.
