Course Reserves

For Students:

Students can borrow course reserves placed by their instructors. The course reserves can be borrowed for a stipulated period of time specified by the instructor concerned. In order to borrow a course reserve, please contact the Circulation Desk of the library with the name of the instructor or Course Reserve Number. You can also search our course reserve system to confirm whether a specific course reserve is available at the library.

For Faculty

Instructors can put their course material on reserve for the students at the library circulation desk. In order to place your course material on reserve, please download the online course reserve form. Please fill out the downloaded form and bring it to the library circulation desk with the course material. The instructors can choose any of the following reserve categories for their course reserves:

Strict Reserves: Materials circulate for two (2) hours and are NOT TO BE TAKEN FROM THE LIBRARY AT ANY TIME.

24-Hour Reserves: Materials circulate for twenty-four (24) hours. A book checked out at 11:00 am on Monday is due at 11:00 am Tuesday, etc.

3 or 5 day Reserves: Materials circulate for the three or five days at a time. For three days, a Wednesday checkout means due Saturday. For five days, a Wednesday checkout means due Monday, etc.

Permanent Reserves: Certain materials are always kept on reserve and are treated as STRICT RESERVE unless otherwise noted.

Please contact the Circulation Librarian at (605) 642-6834 or read Frequently Asked Questions related to Course Reserves.
