All library patrons must present a valid ID to check out any materials.

Community patrons must present a picture ID to receive a library patron card.

Reference material and periodicals do not circulate which means they cannot be checked out of the library. They can be used anywhere on the main and second floor of the library. Copiers are available for patron use.

Loan period on materials

2 Hours – Material does NOT leave the library.
24 Hours – Material must be returned to the library within 24 hours of checkout.
3 Days – Material circulates for 3 days.
5 Days – Material circulates for 5 days.
21 Days – Material circulates for 21 days.

Fines

Laptops (BHSU patrons only) – Laptops have a strict loan period. The fines on these are at a rate of $.50 per hour, up to $250.00. Non-refundable.

Books – Fines will begin with $2.00 the first day overdue, plus $.10 for each additional day, to a maximum of $250.00 per item. Non-refundable.

Cost of Item – Patron is billed for replacement cost after item is overdue for 30 days. This cost is refunded if the item is returned within one year of the payment date.

Processing Fee – This fee ($15) is added after the 30th day that an item is overdue. Non-refundable.

Reserve Material (BHSU patrons only)

STRICT RESERVE – Materials may be checked out for two (2) hours, but are NOT TO BE TAKEN FROM THE LIBRARY AT ANY TIME.

24-HOUR RESERVE – Materials circulate for twenty-four (24) hours. A book checked out at 11:00 am on Monday is due at 11:00 am Tuesday, etc.

THREE OR FIVE DAY RESERVE – Materials circulate for the three or five days at a time. For three day, a Wednesday checkout means due Saturday. For five day, a Wednesday checkout means due Monday, etc.

PERMANENT RESERVE – Certain materials are always kept on reserve and are treated as STRICT RESERVE unless otherwise noted.

FINES – Overdue STRICT and 24-HOUR reserves are at a rate of $.50 per hour, up to $250.00. THREE and FIVE DAY reserves are $5.00 per day, upto $250.00. Non-refundable.

Media Equipment (BHSU patrons only)

All media equipment is on a 24-hour loan period. Materials circulate for twenty-four (24) hours.
