Circulation Desk
Circulation Services
The responsibilities of this department include checking in and checking out library materials (books, videos, etc.). The circulation desk is also responsible for checking in/out media and equipment (digital cameras, camcorders, laptops, projectors, etc.) maintained by Graphics & Media department of Information and Instructional Services (IIS). Other circulation and borrowing services are:

Interlibrary Loan
If the library does not own a specific item the library can borrow that item from other libraries to serve your needs. Please visit Interlibrary loan page to read the instructions.

Course Reserves
The faculty can put course reserves at the circulation desk. They are checked out to students following the instructions provided by the instructor concerned. If you are an instructor and wish to put some course material on reserve at the library, please download and submit the reserve form. In order to search items placed on reserve, please visit the course reserves page.

Services to Distance Learning Students
The library offers services to those students who are currently enrolled in only distance learning courses (offered by Black Hills State University) and do not reside in Spearfish. Services include issuance of library cards, passwords for database searching, reference assistance, delivery of books and journal articles, and interlibrary loan. Services to Community Users
If you are a non-BHSU user who resides in Spearfish (or nearby areas) and wish to become a member of the library, please check out the services available to community users.
