Mission of the Library
The mission of the Black Hills State University Library
(E. Y. Berry Library-Learning Center) is to provide
the appropriate information resources to support the
curriculum of the university. Those information resources
may be made available in various formats and with
the assistance of the personnel within the library.
The Library Role Within the Strategic Plan
of the University
The library is mentioned multiple times in the Strategic
Plan of the University, but does not have its own
specific section. Each time the library is mentioned,
it is linked to a related topic, such as technology,
teaching and learning, research, etc.
Library Philosophy
The library will do everything that it can do to support
the academic information needs of the institution,
considering the available staffing, financial, and
other resources of the library. Every attempt will
be made to provide these resources in formats that
provide the greatest ease of access. Priorities are
established for resources that are not available in
any other form or source, such as Reference materials.
Overall, the library will continue to offer the highest
level of assistance that it can provide to the university
community, given its share of the institutional resources.
If you need help regarding library services, please
feel free to contact any librarian or the director
of the library.
